Chemically Dyed Handspun YarnChemically-dyeing has come a long way over the past twenty-five years. Several companies produce a full range of colors from muted to bright. We prefer to chemically dye only those colors we cannot produce naturally. These include deep purples, blues, and blood red.The process of dyeing with chemicals is very similar to that used for natural dyeing. The difference is in the dye itself. Chemical dyes come from a bottle and will yield a predictable color whereas the natural dyes must be sourced from nature, then prepared for usage. This process is more challenging because of the element of chance in the final color of the wool. ![]() Corriedale Purple |
